Lambeth Law Centre/Public Interest Law Unit Vacancy
Lambeth Law Centre is recruiting an EEA Legal Caseworker to join the Public Interest Law Unit’s work on defending the rights of EEA homeless nationals through Brexit. PILU has been at the forefront of defending the rights of EEA homeless people, winning a landmark judgement on the treatment of homeless people by the Home Office in December 2017.
This is a newly created post within an existing team, whose purpose is to act as a bridge between EEA homeless nationals, frontline homelessness agencies and our public law solicitors.
The EEA Legal Caseworker will staff the phone advice and referral helpline as well as their own caseload. This is a full-time position with a varied workload, spanning direct advice, working with frontline partners and some research to support public law challenges.
You will have 2 years’ experience of working with homeless people and/or EEA nationals from which you have built a robust knowledge of rights across various themes: housing, welfare benefits and other entitlements. You will be an excellent communicator, able to interact with clients, external agencies and solicitors. You will also be committed to improving services available to this client group as well as developing your own practice and knowledge.
£29930 + statutory pension contribution.
This will be a fixed term contract for 2 years.
